About Pearl
The Legend of the Pearl
In the legend of Western pearls, it is said that Venus, the goddess of beauty, was born in a shell. When the shell was opened, the dew dripping from her body turned into crystal clear pearls. The Danes associate pearls with the mermaid. The mermaid misses the prince but can't help but shed tears of lovesickness, and is treasured by the fritillary oysters guarding her side. After a long time, the tears turn into pearls. In ancient India, people believed that pearls were made by the gods with the dew in the morning.
